Successful delivery of the first training on the prevention of human trafficking in the context of peace missions and operations
Yesterday, 13 September, we successfully conducted a training for military and civilian personnel on the prevention of human trafficking in the context of peace missions and operations at the Jable Castle.
The training was aimed at staff from the Slovenian Ministry of Defence and the Slovenian Armed Forces. The participants learned about:
– current issues in the fight against trafficking in human beings,
– indicators for identifying potential victims, and
– measures to be taken when such crimes are detected.
The aim is for the participants to transfer the acquired knowledge to members of the Slovenian Armed Forces who will take part in international peace missions and operations, thus contributing to the reduction of this phenomenon in the countries of origin as well as in the missions themselves.
This is the first such training for Ministry of Defence and Slovenian Armed Forces personnel, organised by the Peace Operations and Training Centre, and POTC is honoured to have been able to work so harmoniously with our colleagues from the Ministry of the Interior in the delivery of this training. In addition to representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, colleagues from the Slovenian Police and the humanitarian organisation Slovenska Karitas also provided the knowledge transfer.
