Regional Roundtable on UN Peace Operations

The First Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans Roundtable on UN Peace Operations: Regional Perspectives on Strengthening Support and Advancing the Role of Training Centres (hereinafter referred to as Regional Roundtable on UN Peace Operations) is a high-level senior officials intergovernmental event focused on the future of regional engagement in United Nations peace operations.

The aim of the Regional Roundtable on UN Peace Operations is to provide a platform for policy dialogue on future regional engagement in UN peace operations, the evolving role and sustainability of regional peacekeeping training centres, and opportunities for strengthened regional cooperation and coordinated support beyond personnel contributions. The event brings together representatives of participating Member States, regional training centres, United Nations entities, and partner institutions.

As the first meeting in the region following the 2025 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin and recent mission transitions, it provides a timely platform to reflect on future priorities and lessons learned. Peace operations and missions are among the most important tools of the international community for conflict prevention, peacekeeping and post-conflict stabilisation, but require continuous adaptation.

The roundtable is organised by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia and the Peace Operations Training Centre, in cooperation with the UN Light Coordination Mechanism. It will take place on 8 and 9 June 2026 in Ljubljana and Grad Jable, Slovenia.
