Successful Conclusion of the Seminar on the Impact of Emerging Technologies on Strategic Decisions and Operational Capabilities

On 6 November 2025, we organised the seminar “Disruptive Military Technologies and Practices”, dedicated to examining the impact of emerging and disruptive technologies on strategic decision-making and operational capabilities in the context of international peace and security.

The seminar, held in close cooperation with the Military Technology, Research and Development Section of the Ministry of Defence, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Slovenian Armed Forces. A number of distinguished experts in the fields of military technologies, innovation, and related high-tech research and industry—many of whom are engaged in projects with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia—contributed to the event.

Key topics addressed during the seminar included:

  • The importance of emerging and disruptive technologies for future military and security capabilities,
  • an overview of the strategic documents of the Republic of Slovenia in the field of defence and security,
  • presentations of the NATO DIANA accelerator as well as projects of the European Defence Agency and the European Defence Fund,
  • linking ARIS CRP research projects with defence needs and international initiatives.

Participants gained an in-depth understanding of technological trends that will shape national and allied security environments in the years to come. The seminar concluded with a lively discussion in which participants exchanged experiences, views, and proposals for further cooperation in research, development, and the implementation of advanced technologies within the defence system of the Republic of Slovenia.

The event once again confirmed the importance of cooperation between the defence sector and research institutions in developing modern capabilities to ensure peace, security, and technological sovereignty.
