A national security think tank acts as a platform for independent, interdisciplinary, and strategically oriented research, communication, and advisory work in the fields of defence, security, and resilience at the national level. It also fosters active engagement with international think tanks and/or organizations.

Key objectives of the project:

  • Establish and develop mechanisms for raising awareness and engaging diverse publics in debates on national security issues.
  • Strengthen awareness of the importance of cooperation in the field of national security among state institutions, academia, the private sector, the media, and civil society organizations.
  • Connect with international think tanks and organizations to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in defence, security, and resilience.
  • Raise public awareness about the evolving security environment and the importance of national security and Euro-Atlantic organizations for the security of the Republic of Slovenia.
  • Promote, design, and implement modern, inclusive, and strategically oriented national security debates, frameworks, and strategic communication.

The activities target the general public and civil society, the media, the private sector, and Slovenian decision-makers, while also involving academia and fostering cooperation with domestic and international NGOs and think tanks in the field of national security and resilience, as well as with local communities across Slovenia.

Project activities include:

  • Organization of events (public debates, roundtables, and conferences) focused on raising young people’s awareness of the importance of security and defence, as well as the crucial role of the state within NATO and the European Union.
  • Organizing trainings and workshops on strategic communication with the support of domestic and international experts and best practices.
  • Publishing thematic expert studies in cooperation with academia, national security professionals, researchers, students, and international security and defence actors.
