POTC concludes this year’s edition of the Training on International Humanitarian and Criminal Law
From 16 to 17 September 2026, POTC held the two-day training “International Humanitarian and Criminal Law” at Jable Castle. POTC organised the training in cooperation with the Slovenian Armed Forces Legal Department.
During the two-day programme, participants addressed current legal and security challenges, including withdrawal from the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines (Ottawa Convention) and the Convention on Cluster Munitions and the obligations of allied states under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, as well as case studies on Venezuela and Iran.
The second day of the training focused on field experience. Two legal advisers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared their experiences and professional perspectives and engaged with participants in discussions on the legal aspects of operations in the current security environment, as well as the practical challenges faced by legal advisers in their work.
Through lectures, presentations, and open discussions, the training connected theoretical knowledge with practical experience and encouraged the exchange of professional perspectives on issues relevant to the work of legal advisers in both national and international environments.
