Jable Castle, 24 September 2025 – The second meeting of the informal coordination platform of the Republic of Slovenia’s actors working in Ukraine in the field of recovery and development was held under the auspices of the Ukraine Recovery programme. The meeting was aimed at exchanging information, identifying synergies, and agreeing on further cooperation among various actors active on the ground. Participants reviewed past activities, presented new initiatives, and discussed the best approaches to increase the impact of Slovenia’s efforts in Ukraine.
The three key takeaways from the meeting were:
-
Greater focus of Slovenia’s efforts in Ukraine – Platform members stressed that strategic coordination and more focused activities would allow for deeper impact, greater visibility, and more efficient use of resources. Particular emphasis was placed on the regions of Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Dnipropetrovsk, where Slovenia is already implementing numerous projects.
-
Increased awareness in Slovenia – The visibility of Slovenia’s work in Ukraine needs to be strengthened, especially among young people, decision-makers, and the private sector. The discussion highlighted that different approaches to raising awareness of target groups, such as information campaigns and youth-focused events, contribute significantly to recognition and impact.
-
Joint project for hosting Ukrainian children in Slovenia in 2026 – The project will bring together the capacities of Slovenian municipalities and the existing resources of actors, building on the experience of past summer camps. The aim is to achieve greater impact and visibility while directly supporting children affected by the conflict through a safe and high-quality holiday programme.
The meeting confirmed the importance of cooperation, coordination, and joint initiatives for a more lasting impact of Slovenia’s efforts in Ukraine. Participants agreed to continue work on the operational plan and preparations for upcoming activities that will strengthen the synergy and effectiveness of existing projects.
The ‘Recovery and Reconstruction in Ukraine’ programme is funded by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs through the Slovenian Aid and Partnerships and implemented in partnership with ‘U-LEAD with Europe’.
