November Core Pre-Deployment Training for Civilian Crisis Management Missions and Operations
From 16 to 27 November 2026, the Centre for European Perspective (CEP), through the Peace Operations Training Centre (POTC), will organise the Core Pre-Deployment Training for Civilian Crisis Management Missions and Operations at the Gotenica Training Centre.
Contemporary peace operations and missions are conducted in increasingly complex operational environments characterised by armed conflict, political instability, terrorism, organised crime, disinformation campaigns, climate-related security risks and humanitarian crises. Personnel deployed to such environments therefore require not only professional expertise, but also a sound understanding of the mandates of international organisations, the international legal framework, cultural environments, the protection of civilians and human rights, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure their personal safety.
The Core Pre-Deployment Training is Slovenia’s only national pre-deployment training for civilian and police personnel preparing to serve in civilian peace operations and missions. It aims to prepare participants to perform their duties effectively, professionally and safely and to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies required to operate successfully in complex international environments.
The training is primarily intended for Slovenian personnel preparing for deployment to civilian missions and operations of the United Nations, European Union, NATO, OSCE and other international organisations. The target group includes representatives of the Police, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, as well as experts from other ministries and state institutions. Personnel from partner and allied countries are also welcome to participate.
The training will be conducted in English. Applications are open until 25 October 2026.
