Seminar on Cooperation with Local Communities Successfully Delivered
On Wednesday, 21 May 2025, we hosted civil cooperation experts at Jable Castle who gave an up-close look at the involvement of local communities in peacekeeping and peacebuilding processes.
The day-long seminar provided participants with ways to contribute to peacekeeping by working with local stakeholders, and also addressed ways to support inclusion, resilience, accountability and local ownership.
Topics addressed included the NATO Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) doctrine, cooperation with communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, development cooperation in Ukraine and Uganda, CIMIC cooperation in Afghanistan, local projects of the Slovenian Red Cross in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the sharing of Slovenian Karitas’ field experience in community development.
The aim was to acquaint participants with how to help mission and operations staff develop the relevant skills needed for successful engagement with local communities.
We would like to thank all the speakers and participants for a successful seminar.
