SLOVENIAN DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION
CEP is an official provider of Slovenia’s international development cooperation and assistance to the regions of Southeast Europe and EU Neighbourhood Policy. Our development partnerships with these countries are aimed to support economic, social and political development, democratic governance reforms and to accelerate the accession process in (potential) EU Candidate Countries . We have a track record of over 150 successfully implemented projects in the priority regions as defined by the Programme for International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance (MRSHP) implemented by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
CEP is currently (2025-2026 and 2026-2028) implementing four Slovenian development cooperation projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Ukraine. The development cooperation projects are financed by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia (Slovenian Aid).
ONGOING PROJECTS
ENTER: CHANGE
Phase II
The ENTER: CHANGE project is expanding from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Montenegro and North Macedonia in 2026-2028. Young people in the Western Balkan region face a significant lack of prospects for active social and political participation. The project is based on the belief that empowering young politicians with the knowledge and skills to implement democratic governance can lead to significant, systemic change.
Strengthening Education and Professional Regulation in Nursing and Midwifery in North Macedonia
Phase II
Slovenia and North Macedonia launched Phase II of the project in order to strengthen the nursing and midwifery system in line with EU standards, enhance legal and institutional frameworks, empower stakeholders, and establish regulation to improve professional recognition and healthcare quality, with the help of the transfer of applicable Slovenian good practices.
Strengthening the Capacities for Financial Investigations in Montenegro
Montenegro is advancing reforms in the rule of law and anti-corruption, with support from Slovenia to strengthen financial investigation capacities, improve asset confiscation procedures, and enhance institutional cooperation for a more effective fight against economic crime.
Recovery and Reconstruction in Ukraine
Recovery and Reconstruction in Ukraine require political support and strong engagement on the part of the international community. Our Programme, launched in 2025 continues in 2026, addresses the key sectors related to reconstruction and development, where Slovenian knowledge and experience are highly applicable both in enabling sustainable development and stimulating economic growth in Ukraine.
