The two-year capacity-building project of the Ministry of the Interior of Serbia is nearing successful completion

After a series of demanding steps over the past two years, carried out with Slovenian support, from analysis of the situation, various forms of exchange of knowledge and experience, to development work and optimization, in the coming week in Serbia, from 27 to 30 October 2020, handover of the developed information technology for patrol management will be held. Prior to the handover, a test workshop and counselling for the use of equipment and knowledge will take place in Vranje, which will enable better management of patrols. In this way, with the help of Slovenia, Serbia is trying to improve the response of police patrols to the needs of the people, the coordination of police work in the field, including the response to migration, and the protection of police officers in performing police duties.

The project is part of program activities carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior / Police of the Republic of Slovenia and CVS Mobile and is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia from funds for international development cooperation.

Press release: Achieving results in Slovenian international development cooperation with the Republic of Serbia through innovative ICT technologies

Innovative ICT technology for the management of patrols in the Republic of Serbia, which is based on Slovenian experiences and know-how as well as active cooperation with MoI Serbia in its development, is getting in this period towards the final shape. With activities and visit of MoI Serbia 23-25 September 2020, we are successfully coming closer to the finalisation of development of modern IT solutions which will help improve the response of police patrols to citizen’s needs, coordination of police work in the field, including adequate response to migration and protection of police officers in the performance of police tasks. It is a contribution to the UN sustainable development goals, to develop an efficient, responsible and transparent institution, which is among Slovenia’s priorities in the implementation of international development cooperation.

Bled became a setting of the 15th edition of the Bled Strategic Forum. The conference is being organised as a hybrid event, with a high-level segment taking place on-site while some discussions are being held online. This year, the one-day event will run under the title “Challenges and Opportunities in the Post-COVID–19 World; Neighbours – Regions – Global World: Partners or Rivals?,”
In addition to the familiar live-streamed sessions, a strong digital component of this year’s conference will open the possibility of online participation allowing to host speakers who are unable to travel to Bled in person and to stimulate virtual audience engagement.
Based on a joint assessment by healthcare professionals, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia declared the end of the COVID-19 epidemic as of 15 May, making Slovenia the first country in Europe to take this step.
The day will start with the Leaders’ Panel, followed by the Foreign Ministers’ Panel at Festival Hall. During lunch, a conversation with Mr Miroslav Lajčák, EUSR for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and Other Western Balkan Regional Issues will be held. The panels that follow will address European Security and Asymmetric Threats, Digitalization as the Driver of Economic Recovery in CEE, and the Future of Cyberspace.

From 18th to 19th June 2020, a workshop and meetings were held in Montenegro with the aim of establishing the inter-ministerial dialogue needed to formulate strategic decisions and a long-term plan to bring public service systems operated by helicopter operations in line with EU standards.
The purpose of the visit – encouraging inter-ministerial dialogue in Montenegro for the establishment of helicopter emergency medical service (HHMP) and helicopter police operations (HPO) systems – was achieved as during the visit a draft document, aimed at developing a plan and strategy for the development of helicopter-based public service systems with a focus on helicopter emergency medical service (HHMP) and helicopter police operations (HPO) and thus the role of the Directorate of Aviation Units of Montenegro and other organizational units of the public administration of Montenegro included in this system, was developed.
The interdepartmental group consists of representatives of the Police Administration of Montenegro, the Institute for Emergency Medical Aid of Montenegro, the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro, led by the Ministry of the Interior of Montenegro.

In June, after the inclusion of Montenegro on the list of epidemiologically safe countries, development assistance to Montenegro in developing the role of the helicopter unit of the Ministry of the Interior of Montenegro in the provision of key public services through established methods of implementation continues.
