The founder of the winning start-up of the Start:up Balkan programme Meerkiddo from Bosnia and Herzegovina will at the beginning of September travel to London and visit a global start-up hub. With the 5-day visit of the winning start-up to the global capital and financial centre, the Start:up Balkan programme will conclude its this year’s activities.
A special networking and business boosting programme supported by the British Startup Manufactory company includes several activities from visit to Google Campus and different entrepreneurial meetups to appointments with representatives of some tech start-ups and few entrepreneurship trainings on recent business topics.
Different opportunities and challenges on the British and Irish markets and business support prospects are foreseen topics for the discussion with the representatives of British government’s Department of international trade and Slovenian Embassy in London.
Meerkiddo is one of the over 30 start-ups from the Western Balkan region that were presented on start-up conference in Maribor and were selected as the most perspective through the Start:up Balkan tour. Meerkiddo created a parental control app that helps parents supervise their children using a mobile phone.
Start:up Balkan tour was a part of the Start:up Balkan programme that was conducted in February 2018 through all Western Balkans capitals. In each capital an event was organized with renowned international speakers and guests to support local young entrepreneurs and encourage them to be even better. The main objective of these events was to give local start-ups a chance for a three-minute pitch that was followed by a feedback delivered by experts and potential investors. The best start-ups from each capital were in May 2018 invited to the PODIM conference in Maribor and to take part in the PODIM Challenge pitching competition.
Three wining start-ups of the PODIM Challenge, were awarded with all-inclusive tailor-made programme in London that will take place from the 3rd to the 7th September 2017.
Start:up Balkan was program in the framework of the project ‘Establishing an Integrated Start-up Ecosystem in the Western Balkans’ powered by CEP and PODIM and supported by the BritishEmbassy in Ljubljana.
19. 7. 2018 | Montenegro - EU Accession, PR, Slovenian Development Assistance
In the framework of the bilateral technical assistance project “Assistance to Montenegro in negotiations on accession to the EU” the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) provides assistance to the Montenegrin Securities and Exchange Commission. Two days expert advice that will conclude today, is provided by three experts from Slovene Securities Market Agency (ATVP). ATVP experts focus their consultations on the capital market, different rules on investment firms and investment intermediaries (Negotiating Chapter 9 – Financial services). The project is part of the CEP program activities financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the scope of international development cooperation.

Strokovnjaki ATVP v okviru bilateralne tehnične pomoči svetujejo kolegom iz Črne gore
V okviru projekta ‘Pomoč Črni gori pri pogajanjih o pristopu k EU’ izvaja Center za evropsko prihodnost (CEP) v Podgorici tehnično pomoč sodelavcem črnogorske Komisije za trg vrednostnih papirjev. Dvodnevno svetovanje, ki se zaključuje danes, izvajajo trije strokovnjaki Agencije za trg vrednostih papirjev (ATVP). Slovenski strokovnjaki kolegom iz Črne gore svetujejo v okviru pogajalskega Poglavja 9 – Finančne storitve in sicer na temo kapitalskega trga, investicijskih družb in posredništva pri naložbah. Projekt je del programskih aktivnosti CEP, ki jih financira Ministrstvo za zunanje zadeve iz sredstev za mednarodno razvojno sodelovanje.

ATVP experts will focus their consultations on the capital market, different rules on investment firms and investment intermediaries (Negotiating Chapter 9 – Financial services).
In December 2017 ATVP’s experts have hosted their counterparts from Montenegrin Securities and Exchange Commission on a two day study visit in Ljubljana.
The project is part of the CEP program activities financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the scope of international development cooperation.
28. 6. 2018 | PR, Serbia - Information exchange, Serbia - Migration, Slovenian Development Assistance
Advancements-orientated discussions regarding flow of information in illegal migrations took place during high-level workshop, which was successfully implemented in the period from 19 to 21 June 2018 on Zlatar, Serbia. The workshop was conducted in the framework of the implementation of international development cooperation of the Republic of Slovenia with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, related to the support for the accession to the EU.
Hand-in-hand with Slovenian colleagues, Head of the EUROPOL’s European Migrant Smuggling Centre Robert Črepinko, specialist for the process of knowledge exchange dr Tatjana Dragovič and head of the workshop and this programme Andreja Dolničar Jeraj, representatives of various organisational units of the Ministry of interior of the Republic of Serbia, which participated in the field visit in April 2018, analysed, through various cases, the flow of information and operational cooperation in different situations involving illegal migrations, comparing the approach of Serbian police forces with approaches used in the EU and with experiences of Slovenia and looking towards improvements that can be achieved. The goal is to optimize the flow of information by putting to better use the current capacities and consequently, respond better to situations related to illegal migrations.
Project is part of program activities implemented in the cooperation with the Ministry of Interior/Police of the Republic of Slovenia and financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia in the framework of Slovenia’s Development Cooperation.
11. 6. 2018 | PR, Serbia - Migration
In the framework of the implementation of international development cooperation of the Republic of Slovenia with Republic of Serbia and continuously successful cooperation in this respect with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, a three-day workshop will be implemented in Serbia (on Zlatar) from 19 to 21 June 2018.
In April 2018 during field visit in various organisation unitswas conducted and it was determined: “The system of information flow between different organisational units and competences of Serbian police in the area of illegal migrations can be optimized. There is a room for advancement.”

The workshop will be high-level and case-based, analyzing flow of information and operational cooperation in different situations involving illegal migrations, comparing the approach of Serbian police forces with approaches used in the EU and with experiences of Slovenia and looking towards improvements that can be achieved.

24. 5. 2018 | Macedonia - corruption, Macedonia - Finance, PR, Slovenian Development Assistance
At the margins of high-level inter-sectorial workshop dedicated to financial investigations, on 18 May 2018 the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Macedonia Oliver Spasovski received the following Slovenian delegation: Mr Darko Majhenič, the Director of National Bureau of Investigation, Mr Harij Furlan, Head of the Group of state prosecutors for the prosecution of organized crime at the Office of the State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia, and Ms Andreja Dolničar Jeraj, Programme Director at the Centre for European Perspective who lead the delegation. The Head of Sector for IPA and Community Programmes Mr Sasko Kocev and Advisor to the Minister Mr Veton Kranlievski also joined the meeting.
They discussed outcomes of the workshop and experiences of Slovenia with changes made to the legislation and implementation of financial investigations. Since the Ministry of Interior leads the project on Macedonian side, it was suggested Minister Spasovski would host autumn inter-sectorial meeting and consider future activities for cooperation in the next programming period.
